We are dedicated to promoting animal welfare by addressing issues related to stray and abandoned cats, advocating for responsible pet ownership, and raising awareness about the unique challenges black cats face in finding homes.

Meet Our Founder

Marissa R Sullivan

Hi, I’m Marissa, the founder of Cat Noir Rescue, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehoming black cats. My passion for black cats began when I was just a child living on a farm in Minnesota. From a young age, I was captivated by their beauty, mystery, and grace. My first black cat, a little boy I named Black Beauty, stole my heart and sparked a lifelong love for these enchanting creatures.

Throughout my life, I learned that black cats often face prejudice and struggle to find homes due to outdated superstitions and misconceptions. This motivated me to create Cat Noir Rescue, where we not only rescue black cats but also educate the public on their unique qualities and the joy they bring into our lives

About Our Logo

Growing up, the founder, Marissa, loved dressing up her black male cats in pink, capturing the humor and patience of her beloved companions. This playful dynamic inspired the Cat Noir Rescue logo—a classic black cat embodying the spirit of putting up with a child’s mischievous antics.

How to Help

Fosters and transportation volunteers are always needed to support our rescue efforts. If you’d like to help out, please contact Cat Noir Rescue for more information on how you can get involved.

Our adoption fees only cover a portion of the average cost of care for our rescues. Donations are always welcomed and are tax deductible. Your generosity helps us continue our mission to save and care for cats in need
